New Clothes During a Health Journey

New Clothes During a Health Journey

If you're like me and many other women, you may be on a health and wellness journey that involved losing weight and toning muscle. It's a great feeling, isn't it? But as much as we love to wear a smaller size, it's hard buying a whole wardrobe when you know in a couple of months you'll be an even smaller size!

What to do?

Well, you can just buy all new clothes and sell them second hand once you've moved onto a new size but that won't help your budget in this economy.

Or maybe you can just squeeze into your goal size and hold your breath all day and not eat... PLEASE I'm just kidding.

So what is our solution? Transition pieces. And do we have quite the selection!

Here are some of our favorite pieces:

1) A good pair of straight leg jeans. These will last you a few sizes because they're ok if they're big. Might I suggest the Montana Rigid Magic Jeans by Judy Blue. They have a rigid fit for a flattering snatched look that will hold you in now and conform to your new body in a few months, too!

2) Pants with a functional drawstring. The functional drawstring is key as it can make your pants tighter as your waist gets narrower. I love these affordable sets by Double Take. They come in 4 colors and 6 sizes and are perfect for pairing with a cardi or blazer in the winter to make it more office friendly but absolutely suitable for lounging at home too!

3) Open knit cardigans. They are usually pretty generous when it comes to sizing and look just as good fully open as they do worn close to closing but again they are OPEN so it gives you some grace and room to catch up! Besides, a cardi can be worn over and over again to change a look up. I especially love long cardigans in a thinner knit so that I can wear them in a cold restaurant in the summer, to the mall in the Fall, around the office in the winter and on the way to the farmer's market in the spring when layers are a must for cold mornings and warm afternoons. Here's a personal fave from Michelle Mae who is truly a size inclusive brand that even uses models in various sizes -- not just a small and a 1X.

4) A soft and stretchy midi dress. Dresses can be great transition pieces and not just seasonally but for your body transformation, too! A stretchy dress will cling and hang perfectly in a range of sizes because it's not as structured as a zippered dress or pair of jeans. How pretty is this one that comes in size xsmall to 4x?!

5) A cute one piece or jumper. Jumpers and rompers and playsuits are here to stay! They can be dressed up or down and they are inter-seasonal, too, as you can wear anything from a sports bra to a sweater underneath. So fun and so cute! (Yes, I said cute twice!). Checkout this one by Jade by Jane.
